THE JOURNEY OF CRAFTING A LEGACY
Hi, I’m Keisha Jordan, the founder and CEO of Complex Flavors Home + Life. With over 20 years as a creative director and art curator, my work lives at the intersection of storytelling, community, and design. Through wallpaper, textiles, and home décor, I create sensory-rich pieces that reflect resilience, identity, and the layered beauty of culture.
I’ve been honored to design for spaces with cultural impact — from Issa Rae’s South LA home to Big Boi’s Dungeon Family House — and to share my story through my award-winning documentary The Lupus Diaries: Wolves + Butterflies.
Complex Flavors is a certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and Women Business Enterprise (WBE). My mission is simple: to design spaces that don’t just look good, but heal, empower, and create connection.
WHY I STARTED COMPLEX FLAVORS
For me, this work is deeply personal. I’ve lived with lupus for more than 20 years, a disease that has affected me not only physically, but neurologically. That means I often experience the world through a neurodivergent lens — one that makes sensory environments, textures, and overstimulation harder to navigate.
Yet, in all the places I entered — homes, offices, even wellness spaces — I rarely found products or designs that reflected my needs. Rooms were stylish but draining, beautiful but not supportive. I felt unseen.
I realized I wasn’t alone. 15–20% of the global population is neurodivergent, including people with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and those living with chronic illnesses like lupus. Yet design rarely accounts for us.
That gap is why I started Complex Flavors. I wanted to create décor that does more than fill a wall — pieces that reflect identity, honor culture, and support emotional wellness. For me, true luxury is not just how a space looks, but how it makes you feel.
